The National Centre for Eating Disorders has a team of leading eating disorder and mental health experts to assist in the design and operation of our treatment services, including:

 

Deanne Jade, the Founder and Principal of the NCFED

Deanne JadeDeanne is a psychologist and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, specialising in the treatment of eating disorders and obesity for over 25 years. She has contributed to the development of treatment guidelines for eating disorders and obesity by The National Institute for Clinical Excellence. She is also a member of many professional organisations, such as the European Health Psychology Society, the APA, and National Obesity Forum. Deanne is also a member of an All Party Parliamentary Group for Obesity.

 

Dr Chelluri Ramachender, Consultant Psychiatrist

Chelluri RamachenderDr Chelluri Ramachander is a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist. He has 32 years' experience in the field of psychiatry; he is currently employed as locum Consultant Psychiatrist and has been a consultant for10 years. He has 20 years experience in psychotherapy practice and 10 years experience in active CBT practice. He does private practice, particularly in psychotherapy, outside NHS working hours (he works for Sussex Partnership NHS Trust in Hastings). Professional organisations: BABCP, Gen. Medical Council, and Fellow of The Royal Society of Medicine.

 

Jane Nodder, Nutritional Therapist

Jane NodderJane Nodder trained at the Institute of Optimum Nutrition in Putney. She has worked closely with the NCFED for a number of years as Nutrition Supervisor and trainer. She has a nutrition practice in London and works as a Lecturer and Clinic Supervisor for the BSc Nutritional Therapy degree course at the University of Westminster, London. Jane is currently studying for a MSc in Nutritional Medicine at the University of Surrey. Jane runs nutrition workshops and seminars both in the UK and in France. Jane was also a member of the NICE Guideline Development Group for Eating Disorders (2002-2004).

 

Tricia Heyland

Tricia HeylandTricia Heyland has had 15 years of clinical experience working with addiction, with particular focus on cross addiction. She also has a special interest in codependency and trauma. She has an MSc in Addiction Psychology and Counselling, a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and a Diploma in Counselling for Addictive Disorders, together with various counselling certifications. She is a qualified hypnotherapist with a master's certificate in NLP and is an EMDR practitioner. She also uses energy healing practices such as EFT and Reiki. Tricia has worked in a number of major addiction services primarily focusing on eating disorder therapy. She is also in private practice.

 

Dr Emma Short

Emma ShortDr Emma Short is a Chartered Health Psychologist and holds the Diploma in Practitioner Skills for Eating Disorders. A Senior Lecturer within the Psychology department at the University of Bedforshire, she specialises in health and dieting behaviours, stress and stress management, therapeutic coaching and counselling skills. She is an active member of the Special Group for Coaching Psychology in the British Psychological Society and is currently involved in developing training and accrediatation routes for coaching. Emma has been an independent practitioner in eating disorders since 2005, receiving regular referrals from the Eating Disorders Centre. In addition to her professional expertise in this area, she also has qualifications in clinical hypnotherapy and therapeutic counselling. This enables her to offer a varied and flexible approach to her clients depending on individual need. Emma is regularly invited by the media to comment on eating and dieting behaviour, contributing frequently to magazines, newspapers, radio and TV. She appeared most recently on Channel 4's 'Supersize versus Superskinny' as an expert in the role of hypnotherapy on weight loss.

 

Alison Jenkins

Alison JenkinsAlison Jenkins is a Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders who specialises in recovery from binge eating through online counselling. She is one of the first 7 people in the world to be trained in online counselling through Toronto University, Canada. She has a wealth of professional experience as a counsellor, writer and nurse. At 18, she trained as a Registered General Nurse at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, England; then she worked in hospital and community settings, in the UK and the USA. Since then she has gained numerous qualifications ranging from diplomas to degrees covering an expansive area of health care.
