Essential Obesity: Psychological Approaches (Certified Course)

Approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists 2000-2001
15 CPD points on application

The experience of obesity is a national problem and a national obsession. Many overweight people feel unhealthy and miserable. More people seek help for weight problems than perhaps for any other condition. There are lots of solutions out there but very little long term success. Traditional dietary and medical remedies have failed to provide a remedy.

Yet there are people who do lose weight and keep it off permanently and easily. All it takes is a mentor who can use the right interventions tailored to suit individual needs and circumstances and with the ability to motivate someone into change.

Although the treatment of weight problems is in the realm of psychological therapy, overweight people are not necessarily psychologically disturbed. But they do need help, guidance, coaching and support. This course with Deanne Jade is designed to give you the skills to provide this, in the right way , with the right tools and in the right time.

Obesity treatment is not the miracle one-hour cure to all the problems which have led someone to become overweight. Sometimes the most effective change will be in steps. Miracles can and do happen thorough consistent improvement over time.
